Benton Police Hosting Second National Night Out Event in Neighborhoods

  On Tuesday, October 1st, neighborhoods throughout Benton are being invited to join forces together for the Annual National Night Out (NNO) crime and drug prevention event.  This is the second NNO event hosted in Benton this year due to some of the groups not wishing to participate in the heat of the summer or for other logistical reasons.  

 

Investigation Leads Detectives to Burglary Suspect

On 8/30/13, officers took a report of a burglary at an address on Springhill Road.  It was determined that numerous items were stolen out of the residence including a bed and home furnishings.  

 

Officer Notices Suspicious Vehicle Behind Business and Makes Two Arrests

On 9/20/13, at approximately 12:10 AM, an officer observed a vehicle driving from the rear of Williams Tire, which was closed. Given recent thefts from the business and the time of night, the officer then initiated a traffic stop on the vehicle to investigate further. 

 

Suspect Arrested for Aggravated Assault and Terroristic Threatening

On 9/19/13, at approximately 7:57 PM, officers responded to an address on Michael Drive in reference to a disturbance with a weapon call.  Upon their arrival they made contact with the parties involved to determine what took place.  

 

Officer Observes Suspicious Activity Which Leads to Felony Charges

On 9/19/13, at approximately 7:30 AM, an officer observed a suspicious vehicle driving through two closed car lots on Military Road.  Due to recent incidents of vehicle break-ins and thefts the officer attempted to initiate contact with the driver.  

 

Benton Police Hosting Drug Recognition Expert Class

Publication Date

  The Benton Police Department, in conjunction with the Criminal Justice Institute, is currently hosting a Drug Recognition Expert (DRE) training class.  This is a 9 day course that certifies law enforcement officers from around the state as DRE’s.
