BNPD INVESTIGATING VEHICLE VS. MOTORCYCLE FATALITY ACCIDENT
With assistance from the Ouachita County Sheriff’s Office and Camden Police Department, Benton Police Department’s capital murder suspect, 37-year-old Termaine Anderson, was taken into custody Friday evening. He is now being held without bond at the Saline County Jail.
BNPD officers responded to Military Road in front of Sonic just after 8 p.m. Monday for a vehicle vs. Honda Motor Scooter accident. Upon arrival, officers discovered the driver of the motor scooter, 41- year-old Jeffrey Freeman of Sheridan, deceased.
Benton Police Department responded to the 100 block of Valley Street just prior to 6 p.m. Thursday in reference to a deceased male being discovered. The victim is believed to be a missing person out of Little Rock. Positive identification is pending.
Benton Police Department officers were advised by Stuttgart Police Department detectives Monday morning that a suspect with an active warrant for homicide, 51-year-old Earthly Coleman, was known to be hiding in Benton.
The Benton Police Department and other local agencies will conduct active intruder training beginning at 8 a.m. Monday, June 28 through Friday, July 9 at Harmony Grove Schools in Haskell. Nearby residents should be prepared to hear louder-than-usual noises—to include gunfire, music, and screaming.
Benton Police Department will host the annual “Hooked on Fishing” Derby for children 12 and under from 9 a.m. to noon Thursday, June 17 at Sunset Lake in Benton. Registration is free and will begin at 8:30 a.m. the day of the event. All participants will need to bring a fishing pole and bait.
