Every month this year the Benton Police Department will have a different initiative that we will call attention to in relation to a public safety issue. The month of April was ‘Anti-Drug April’, where we focused on different enforcement and education activities to raise awareness about the damage drugs can cause in our community.
Law enforcement agencies in Saline County took in 963 pounds of prescription medicine during Operation Medicine Cabinet IX held on April 26th. Agencies that participated were Alexander Police Department, Benton Police Department, Bryant Police Department, and Haskell Police Department.

On 4/22/14, detectives with the Benton Police Department took a report of a possible sexual assault involving a female juvenile victim. During the investigation, evidence indicated that a sexual assault had taken place and a suspect was named.

The Benton Police Department is launching Operation Medicine Cabinet IX on April 26th as part of the on-going DEA prescription medicine take back initiative. Officers will once again be staffing drop-off locations in the city in conjunction with other law enforcement agencies in the county and state.

Recently, Chief Kirk Lane of the Benton Police Department was awarded his Senior Chief Certificate through the Arkansas Commission on Law Enforcement Standards. Earning this certificate is a distinction that is given to police chiefs within the state who meet the standards set forth.
